Teen prodigy Coco Gauff produces stirring comeback to beat Aryna Sabalenka in US Open final

American teen Coco Gauff has won her first major title, defeating new world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka to claim her home grand slam.

Gauff, 19, was blasted off the court in the first set but produced a stirring comeback to win 2-6 6-3 6-2 in Sunday’s (AEST) final.

Sabalenka who will replace Swiatek as world number one in the next set of rankings, missed a chance to win a second major after winning January’s Australian Open.
