Sept. 2-3–The 71st Maui Open presented by Maui Toyota is scheduled for Sept. 2-3 at The Dunes at Maui Lani. The 36-hole stroke-play tournament includes a championship flight, senior flight (50 and over), super senior flight (60 and over) and A flight. The entry fee is $245 for Aloha Section PGA members, $270 for unaffiliated professionals and $195 for amateurs. The deadline to register is Aug. 26, though space is limited to 122 players. Jan. 4–Volunteer registration is currently open for the 2024 Sentry Tournament of Champions at the Kapalua Plantation Course. The tournament — set for the first week of January, with the first round starting on Jan. 4 — will serve as the season opener for the 2024 PGA Tour season. There are various committees that prospective volunteers can join including Shot­Link (includes both walking scorer and laser operator), On-Course Transportation, Gallery Management, Admissions & Information, and Supply & Product Distribution. Volunteers working three or more shifts will receive one golf shirt, one half-zip pullover, a hat or visor, a commemorative tournament pin, a water bottle and access to Volunteer Headquarters with catered food and beverage options during the week. Returning this year is the Volunteer Appreciation Party, which includes entertainment, food, drinks and prizes. In addition to volunteer credentials allowing free admission when not on a volunteer shift, the Sentry Tournament of Champions will provide one additional grounds ticket (Thursday-Sunday) for friends and family.
